The Education Development Trust has recently carried out a pilot scheme in the Wakefield area, to test the governments new work experience programme.
The Equalex pilot received positive feedback from students, schools, and employers. Students described the experience as motivating, eye-opening, and confidence-building, with many developing key workplace skills and greater clarity about their future careers.

Constructive feedback highlighted the importance of early planning, leadership buy-in, and clear expectations for workplace behaviour.
Stakeholders also emphasised the need for stronger engagement with parents and carers, and recommended prioritising in-person experiences and leveraging staff with labour market expertise for more effective delivery.

Equalex is a straight forward initiative, providing information and access to employers and students alike.
This pilot scheme was hosted by Sarah Ireland of EDT and supported by Think B2B Marketing (a member of the YPIP team), providing insight into packaging and marketing sectors.
